We're Sorry, Mr. President

Yesterday, I wrote an article about how America was a seriously – and even tragically – divided country. As a result of last night’s historic victory by now President-elect Donald Trump, I have pulled that piece and hopefully, will not have a reason to run it again. (However, you can still read it at www.daleglading.com for the rest of today.)

In its place, I am publishing an entirely new editorial written this morning after staying up until 3:00 AM last night to bask in the glow of President Trump’s win and to listen to his victory speech. Here are my takeaways following the greatest political comeback in American history.

By giving him a win in both the popular vote and the Electoral College, the American people offered a sincere and full-throated apology to Donald Trump. Sorry for not re-electing you in 2020 after you guided our country to a booming economy and peace abroad. Sorry for blaming you for a pandemic that wasn’t your fault and which you had no control over. Sorry for trading a proven product for the fool’s gold promised by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Trump’s win was also a resounding reaffirmation of American values and the American dream. We rose up as one and rejected the woke policies of the Biden-Harris administration that gave us biological men invading women’s sports and women’s locker rooms and drag queens reading to kindergartners. We also said “No” to open borders and treating illegal immigrants better than our military veterans… while saying “Yes” to low inflation and affordable homes.

American workers rejected the strongarming of their union leaders in favor of a true friend in the White House. Who would have thought that a billionaire from New York could connect so deeply and profoundly with blue collar men and women? Likewise, who would have believed that black men and Hispanics would grow tired of being taking for granted, standing up for themselves and their families?

The race card came up snake eyes and identity politics suffered a potentially fatal blow as people of every race, creed, and color refused to be defined by the complexion of their skin. And those who insisted otherwise – such as Barack and Michelle Obama – were exposed as racist dinosaurs. Meanwhile, much to their credit, Americans said “take a hike” to celebrities from Oprah and Taylor Swift to J-Lo and Cardi B. They might like their movies and their music, but they don’t want to be told what to think or how to vote by rich elitists who can’t begin to identify with their day-to-day struggles.

Americans also gave a big “thumbs down” to EV mandates and a big “thumbs up” to oil, coal, and fracking. Drill, baby, drill!

I will have more to say tomorrow – and for many days to come, Lord willing – but I am still trying to wrap my head around the historic events of November 5th. Let me close with this: God has granted us yet another reprieve and my fervent prayer is that we will seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to Make America Great Again!
