Don’t let the giggle fool you…
As an archconservative, I am a regular viewer of FOX News. I usually eat my breakfast while watching Fox & Friends and I also enjoy Brett Baier (he’s fair) and Jesse Waters (he’s funny). I also try to catch America’s Newsroom with Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino from time to time as well as The Five.
Fox & Friends has a regular weekday team that includes Steve Doocy, Brian Kilmeade, Ainsley Earhardt, and Lawrence Jones and they are all excellent journalists. So are, for that matter, the members of the weekend crew: Will Cain, Pete Hegseth, and Rachel Campos-Duffy.
Campos-Duffy is the wife of former four-term congressman Sean Duffy of Wisconsin. Together, they have nine children, the last of which was born prematurely and has Down Syndrome. To better care for their special needs child, Sean Duffy resigned from congress in 2019. Meanwhile, Rachel serves as the national spokesperson for the LIBRE initiative, a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote constitutionally limited government, property rights, rule of law, economic stability, and free market capitalism to the Hispanic community.
Like I said, don’t let the giggle fool you, because there is more to Campos-Duffy than meets the eye.
For instance, on a recent broadcast, she admitted that although she loves our country and is a true patriot, she defines herself as “a Christian first and an American second.” Good for you, Rachel, because Scripture clearly teaches that God deserves first priority in our lives (see Exodus 20:3, Matthew 22:36-40; et al) and that as believers, our true citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20).
That simple statement reminds me of Mike Pence’s self-description when he was a congressman from Indiana. “I am a Christian, a conservative, and a Republican… in that order,” Mike declared on his congressional website.
On that same broadcast, Campos-Duffy demonstrated that she also has a good handle on the goals of the modern Progressive movement. “They want to control our energy, our currency, and our food supply” she stated matter-of-factly, acknowledging that whoever controls those three key components of our society possesses unapparelled power.
Folks, we could do a lot worse than listening to Rachel Campos-Duffy and her co-hosts.
