The Useful Idiot at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue

The term “useful idiot” is defined as a “a person who thinks they are fighting for a cause without fully comprehending the consequences of their actions, and who does not realize they are being cynically manipulated by the cause's leaders or by other political players.” It came into play during the Cold War when some liberal Americans were duped into supporting Communist regimes and totalitarian dictators. Supposedly the term was first employed by Vladimir Lenin and later perfected by Joseph Stalin.

Until recently, the poster child for useful idiots everywhere was Jane Fonda, who visited Hanoi at the height of the Vietnam War. “Hanoi Jane” even went so far as to pose atop an anti-aircraft gun for photographers and to go on the Voice of Vietnam radio to implore American pilots to stop their bombing missions… all for propaganda purposes.

However, my guess is that if you open a dictionary to the phrase “useful idiot” today, Ms. Fonda’s picture will be pasted over with one featuring Joseph Robinette Biden, the 46th President of the United States.

Hanoi Jane meet Geritol Joe!

A career politician whose only core value was to be elected and then re-elected ad nauseam for 36 years in the Senate, the self-labeled “Lunch Bucket” Joe was a natural pick to be Barack Obama’s running mate in 2008. He allegedly had vast foreign policy experience, a claim since debunked by former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, who wrote in his 2014 memoir that Biden had been “wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.” However, Obama’s campaign felt that a political hack like Joe could be easily manipulated… and they were right.

For eight years, Biden remained in Obama’s shadow, occasionally emerging like Punxsutawney Phil on Groundhog Day to make a ridiculous comment that the White House communications department would have to walk back. They didn’t call him “Crazy Uncle Joe” for nothing!

And so, when the Democratic hierarchy started looking for someone to dethrone Donald Trump in 2020, they laser-focused on Joe Biden for two reasons. First, he was perceived to be a steady hand in contrast to the bombastic Trump. Second, the Democratic power brokers knew from past experience that they could control him. And so, they threw all their support behind Geritol Joe in South Carolina to salvage his floundering campaign and within days, most of his top challengers for the nomination bowed out (I am guessing under enormous pressure from the party elites who threatened their political futures if they didn’t, while promising them cabinet positions or other perks if they did).

As a result, America got a Manchurian candidate who hid in his basement bunker waiting for Trump to implode, which he did in the first debate. Now, we are stuck with an octogenarian in steep mental and physical decline, a predicament that is emboldening our enemies at home and abroad, all of whom smell blood in the water.

Do you really think Vladimir Putin would have invaded Ukraine or Hamas would have attacked Israel on Donald Trump’s watch? Sensing – and then seeing first-hand – President Biden’s weakness as exhibited in his deadly and disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, Putin pounced and so did Hamas. Will Xi Jinping and China be next? For Taiwan’s sake, I hope not.

The one thing that the Deep State and the Democrat swamp creatures didn’t figure was that their “useful idiot” would go on TV in front of hundreds of millions of people watching worldwide and show himself to be one-step away from total senility. Now, they are in full-fledged panic mode, trying to decide whether to prop Sleepy Joe up until November or throw him overboard before their nominating convention in July.

Perhaps to their surprise, Jill Biden is digging in her stiletto heels and refusing to let her meal ticket step down semi-graciously… and so, they may be saddled with a radioactive Joe Biden at the top of their ticket, putting scores of Democrat incumbents in jeopardy this fall. Meanwhile, America’s national security – and very survival – is in question with a man at the helm whom Axios reports is only “engaged” and cognizant of his surroundings between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Just what we need… a part-time President in a world at the precipice of nuclear war.

Sadly – or perhaps just as the Deep State planned – the alternative is yet another useful idiot from California who slept her way to the top, Vice President Kamala Harris. November 5th and January 20th can’t come soon enough.
