The Tipping Point: Anarchy vs. Martial Law

The first inkling was the ridiculously misnamed “Summer of Love” in 2020. In a lame attempt to evoke the atmosphere surrounding the organic Hippie phenomenon in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood in 1967, Portland Mayor Jenny Durkan coined the phrase anew in a CNN interview with Chris Cuomo on June 11, 2020. This time, the analogy blew up in her face… and rightfully so.

Protestors, supposedly angered by the George Floyd incident in Minneapolis, soon turned into lawless rioters. Within days, they had occupied a four-block radius in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, designating it the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) or the Capitol Hill Organized Protest (CHOP). Meanwhile, hoping to deescalate the situation, the Seattle Police Department unconscionably abandoned its East Precinct headquarters, leaving rioters to run amok.

The protest organizers made three outrageous demands: that the budget for Seattle’s police department be slashed by 50%, that funding be shifted to historically black neighborhoods, and that the rioters not be charged with crimes.

After multiple shootings, sexual assaults, and mass looting, Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best finally declared that “enough is enough,” calling the situation “dangerous and unacceptable.” Following an executive order by the disgraced mayor, police moved in and reclaimed the area… including their previously and shamefully surrendered precinct building.

Not to be outdone, public officials in Minneapolis and across Minnesota did virtually nothing, standing by and watching as rioters ransacked businesses, burned down police stations, and created havoc throughout the North Star State. Gov. Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey, both liberal Democrats, were literally AWOL as their respective jurisdictions went up in smoke.

This kind of Progressive nonsense went unregulated and unpunished through much of 2020, as Black Lives Matter marches violated pandemic restrictions and public health protocols without criticism or recrimination. As a result, entire neighborhoods in cities such as Baltimore, Philadelphia, Portland, and Washington D.C. were engulfed in looting and violence under the pretense of peaceful protest.

At its zenith – or should I say nadir – the mayhem resulted in curfews being imposed in more than 200 cities… while 30 states plus the District of Columbia activated in excess of 96,000 National and State Guard troops along with the 82nd Airborne and the 3rd Infantry Regiment in the largest non-war military operation in U.S. history.

Remarkably, of the estimated 15-20 million protestors/rioters, less than 14,000 were arrested despite causing as much as $2 billion in damage in a single two-week period from May 26th to June 8th.

Since that Summer of Anarchy, criminals have been emboldened in cities across America, employing every imaginable excuse to justify their looting of businesses and destruction of both public and private property… with virtual immunity for their actions.

Today, shoplifters “inspired” by the political unrest and widespread inner-city carnage of 2020 steal everything from designer clothes and high-end sneakers to laptops and large-screen TVs, all in the name of social justice, reparations, or the redistribution of wealth.

Yeah, right, thugs. We’re on to you… even if the Progressives aren’t.

Travel to America’s southern border and you will experience anarchy on steroids as millions of illegals – including an untold number of convicted criminals, terrorists, and drug and sex traffickers – pour into the U.S. undetected and unscathed. Those illegals that are apprehended are provided food, shelter, healthcare, and transportation to destinations across the country… all at taxpayers’ expense.

In the words of Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best, “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!” I am not calling for martial law nor am I advocating for a police state. However, as a taxpaying citizen of this once-great nation, I am demanding that law and order be restored and that public officials fulfill their oaths of office.

Cracking down on lawlessness and criminal behavior is not a choice. It is a public mandate… and an absolute prerequisite to America’s survival. This binge of bedlam cannot be allowed to continue, period.
