Pulling Up the Weed Known as Hamas
Thursday, May 16, 2024
Have you ever tried to rid your lawn of dandelions? Those pesky weeds have some of the longest roots of any plant in the Asteraceae family, that also includes daisies and sunflowers. Technically called the Taraxacum plant, dandelions are actually edible and are commonly used in salads, teas, and even wine. They are also important for pollination.
When I was a young boy, my dad would assign me the job of pulling up the dandelions in our yard while my two older brothers cut the grass. Later, I graduated to a push mower with no engine, and eventually to a regular gas-powered mower… and even a riding mower to tackle our half-acre property.
Back to the job of pulling up dandelions. If I got lazy and simply pulled the weeds out by hand, they would almost always break off, leaving their roots in the ground to sprout once again. Because that meant having to go back and do the job a second time at a later date, I soon learned to dig the dandelions out with a specially-designed tool – roots and all.
So, where are you going with this story, Dale? Well, my friends, let me draw a comparison between dandelions and another pesky weed called Hamas. If recent history has taught us anything, it is that if you allow even a small remnant of a radical Islamic terrorist group to exist, it will quickly resurface and multiply.
We saw that happen with Al-Qaeda in Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Taliban in Afghanistan. In the case of Al-Qaeda, Barack Obama’s timidity was replaced by Donald Trump’s tenacity… and the terrorist group was dealt a death blow. Unfortunately, both political parties allowed the Taliban to fester and foment, and America wound up paying a steep price. As for Hezbollah, they are like an annoying gnat buzzing around Israel’s head from the north while it battles the more immediate threat of Hamas from the south.
After the October 7th massacre that claimed the lives of more than 1,300 innocent Israelis, Benjamin Netanyahu and the Knesset had finally had enough. And so, they launched an all-out war with a singular goal: to completely and permanently eradicate Hamas from the face of the earth. No more pushing them back into Gaza. They must be pulled out by the roots.
At first, President Biden and the rest of the international community supported Israel’s right to self-defense. However, as the war continued and casualties – including thousands of civilians – mounted, Sleepy Joe developed a bad case of sweaty palms and knocking knees. Even worse, his once limpid spine has taken on the consistency of a spaghetti noodle.
Why the change? You don’t have to look beyond Dearborn, Michigan and college campuses across the country to know the reasons. Simply put, Joe Biden knows that he needs Muslims to show up in force on Election Day if he is going to win Michigan’s 15 electoral votes. Likewise, he is depending on the youth vote to put him over the top on November 5th. Geritol Joe won the youth vote 59% - 35% in 2020, a year in which turnout for 18 to 29-year-olds increased by 11%. If young voters turn to Trump or stay home, the good ship Biden will sink faster than the Titanic.
And so, now you know why Joe Biden is scrapping his once solid support of Israel and threatening to cut off arm shipments to reinforce their war on Hamas. It’s not, as he claims, because of the number of civilian casualties in Gaza. President Biden … and the rest of the world – knows that those civilian deaths are a direct result of Hamas hiding in residential areas and using people as human shields.
There is only one reason why Spineless Joe is throwing Israel, our lone and most trusted Middle East ally, under the proverbial bus. In a nutshell, he is putting his own re-election chances above America’s security and Israel’s survival.
And that, my friends, is absolutely shameful.
