PLEASE Do Your Homework!

When I was a young boy, I had two options after the school day was over. I could hurry home, change into my “play clothes”, and head down to the local park – leaving my homework for after dinner – or I could knock out my homework first thing, so I had the rest of the afternoon and evening to myself. In either case, doing my homework was non-negotiable. It was something that had to be done… no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Having watched last week’s DNC lovefest in Chicago and seeing Kamala Harris’s poll numbers continue to climb makes me want to shout: DO YOUR HOMEWORK! So many of the convention delegates, when asked to name a single accomplishment of Ms. Harris, drew a complete blank. The ones who did try to answer the question usually replied: “She’s a woman” or “She’s black” as if one’s gender or race were actual achievements deserving of recognition.

The handful of delegates who tried to expand on their responses offered inane comments about their excitement or the joy they felt over her nomination. “She’s going to move us forward,” they said enthusiastically, neglecting to clarify what the intended destination would be.

Reporters received similar blank stares and vague responses from people they questioned outside the convention hall, especially when they were asked to name some of Ms. Harris’s policies. And yet, these same low information voters were prepared to cast a ballot for Kamala Harris to be the 47th President of the United States without a clue about her qualifications or agenda.

My friends, if you are a registered Democrat or an Independent voter, please do your homework so that your uninformed ballot doesn’t cancel out mine. I can tell you exactly where Donald Trump stands on scores of important issues and Harris voters should be able to do likewise. I realize that it is difficult – if not nearly impossible – to find that information because it isn’t listed on her campaign website, and she has yet to give a single unscripted interview to the press. However, if you do enough digging, you’ll find that Ms. Harris is an unabashed socialist to the left of Bernie Sanders.

Based on her positions when she ran for president in 2019, Ms. Harris favors eliminating private health insurance, defunding and dismantling entire police departments, outlawing gas-powered vehicles, and legalizing abortion-on-demand up until birth. She also supports decriminalizing illegal border crossings and providing free housing and healthcare for illegal immigrants.

The Harris campaign has apparently adopted a strategy that is long on style and short on substance, very similar to the “Hope and Change” offered by Barack Obama in 2008. They are also keeping their candidate under wraps – reminiscent of Joe Biden’s “basement bunker” approach in 2020 – and since both of those campaigns were successful, Kamala’s handlers are all-too-happy to follow in their clandestine footsteps.

The only problem with voting for a blank canvas is that you won’t know if you purchased a Rembrandt, a da Vinci, a Picasso… or a paint-by-number sketch until the election is over.
