On the Road Again... NOT!

You don’t have to be a country music fan to like “On the Road Again,” the song written and recorded by Willie Nelson as the soundtrack for his 1980 movie Honeysuckle Rose. Some of its catchy lyrics go like this…

Verse One – On the road again, just can’t wait to get on the road again

Verse Two – On the road again, goin’ places that I’ve never been

Chorus – On the road again, like a band of gypsies we go down the highway

Sadly, less than six of every 10 Americans will be singing that song – or at least identifying with its lyrics – this summer. Why? Because, in Joe Biden’s economy, they simply can’t afford to go on a family vacation this year.

According to Deloitte’s 2024 summer travel survey, a whopping 42% of Americans say they are staying home this summer with no plans to travel anywhere between Memorial Day and the end of September. The reasons they gave for staying home are as follows: 39% percent said that they simply cannot afford it; 32% said that travel is too expensive right now; and 19% said they would rather spend the money on something else.

And so, Bidenomics claims yet another victim: the long-cherished American tradition of the family vacation. Hopefully, voters will remember the disappointed looks on their children’s faces when they go to the polls on November 5th.
