How Is It Not Treason?
Monday, November 25, 2024
Last week, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled – for the second time – that misdated and undated ballots should not be counted in this year’s presidential and senatorial elections. And yet, despite the twin rulings, the Philadelphia Board of Elections voted 2-1 to count the illegal ballots anyway.
Meanwhile, Bucks County Commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia, a Democrat, did them one better. She publicly – and defiantly – admitted that she also intended to count the illegal ballots. Her reasoning? "People violate laws any time they want."
No, really, she said that.
A duly-elected official in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania actually claimed that she had the right to violate state law and multiple Supreme Court rulings because she felt like it, knew better, or simply disagreed. How is that not treason?
When the public outcry threatened her job and possibly her freedom, Ellis-Marseglia said that her comments were taken out of context and apologized. “The passion in my heart got the best of me,” was her lame excuse before adding, “People make mistakes all the time.”
So now we’re calling the willful and purposeful breaking of the law “a mistake” caused by “passion”? Give me a break!
You, Ms. Ellis-Marseglia, are an overbearing and sanctimonious criminal… and you should be stripped of your office and sentenced to the county jail. Maybe sitting alone in a 6’x9’ cell for a month or two will humble you and bring you to your senses.
The same goes for the mayors of WOKE cities and the governors of WOKE states who have already gone on record to say that they will not cooperate with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when it begins deporting illegal immigrants who have committed crimes.
When asked by CBS News if her state would assist ICE when it starts the mass deportation of illegals in Massachusetts, Gov. Maura Healey responded “No, absolutely not.” Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson echoed Healey’s comments as did Los Angeles City Councilman Hugo Soto-Martinez.
According to 9NEWS, an NBC affiliate, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston went even further, saying that he “will encourage people to protest President-elect Trump’s planned deportations in Colorado and is willing to go to jail to stop efforts made by the future president that he believes are illegal or wrong.”
“More than us having DPD stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there,” Johnston said. “It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right? You’d have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.”
Not to be outdone, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker vowed not only to not cooperate with ICE’s deportation efforts, but also to actively oppose them. Pritzker’s reasoning was simple. “We think that’s improper and in Illinois, that's not something that we would condone,” he said. Pritzker also ruled out using the Illinois National Guard to assist ICE in any way, saying that is “just not something we’re going to accept.”
What am I missing here? Isn’t that as treasonous as Ellis-Marseglia’s insistence on counting illegal ballots… at least until the Democratic candidates came out on top?
For the record, I am a state’s rights proponent under the 10th Amendment, and I also realize that there is a constitutional – and a judicial – question at stake between the “supremacy clause” and “anti-commandeering”. However, this seems to be a clear-cut case of elected officials refusing to enforce federal laws… not because they are unconstitutional, but because they simply don’t agree with them.
As President Barack Obama famously – and very arrogantly – told Sen. John McCain during the debate over the Affordable Care Act, “Elections have consequences.” Well, the same goes here… and thankfully, the law-and-order candidate won.
