Give the Man a Chance!

Amidst all the running political commentary last night, one statement by Brit Hume stuck with me the most. A senior political analyst with FOX News who spent 23 years with ABC News before switching networks, Hume had this to say when the race was finally called for Donald J. Trump…

“Maybe it’s time for his [President-elect Trump’s] enemies to stop it”, Hume said with more than a trace of anger in his voice.

For the mild-mannered Hume – who admits to being a conservative but not a hard right-winger – to get his dander up like that shows just how fed up the vast majority of Americans are with the way President Trump has been treated over the past 10 years. Since the day he descended that golden Trump Tower escalator in 2015, Mr. Trump has been mocked by the liberal elite and vilified by their compatriots in the mainstream media.

When they couldn’t prevent his election in 2016, they set about to block his ambitious America First agenda with an avalanche of lies (Russian collusion, anyone?) and an endless stream of nonsensical investigations. When those tactics didn’t work, they resorted to the nuclear option, impeaching him not once, but twice… and failing to convict both times.

Who gets impeached over a phone call or after they have already left office? No one in American history but Donald Trump, and the American public saw those shady legal maneuvers for the partisan witch hunts they truly were.

And yet, the Liberals still weren’t done (Trump Derangement Syndrome will do that to you). Perhaps fearing his reemergence in 2024, they unleashed the Department of Justice on President Trump with both barrels, filing one groundless lawsuit after another. No district attorney in their right mind would charge a businessman with falsifying business expenses in a victimless “crime” with no accusers, but Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg did exactly that, impaneling a biased New York City jury and force-feeding them a one-sided storyline that was light on facts but heavy on inuendo… including unrelated testimony from a former porn star. The resulting conviction on all 34 trumped-up counts was one of the grossest miscarriages of justice since O.J. Simpson walked free.

Undaunted, Trump’s enemies pressed on, going for the kill. He was accused of violating the presidential records act for supposedly removing classified documents from the White House after leaving office. Ironically, President Biden did the very same thing but avoided prosecution because of his obvious cognitive decline.

I guess no one told the Libs that Americans don’t like double standards... or "lawfare" for that matter.

As if that wasn’t enough, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis charged Mr. Trump with trying to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia for making (again) a single phone call looking for untabulated votes. I guess she was too busy sleeping with her main investigator to realize that her case was nothing but smoke and mirrors.

There is a term used in poker called “overplaying your hand” and that is exactly what the Progressives have done ever since Donald Trump threw his hat into the political ring. They tried every slight-of-hand trick in their bag and used every weapon in their sinister arsenal, but they turned out to be nothing but blanks. And so, now it is time for them to do what any decent human being would do, let alone any patriotic American who truly loves their country.

“Stop it!” and let the duly-elected President of the United States do the job we hired him to do.
