Denial Isn't Just a River in Egypt

Watching President Biden’s 22-minute interview with George Stephanopoulos last week left my mouth as agape as Geritol Joe’s was throughout his debate debacle with Donald Trump. During the course of the interview with a “journalist” who was hand-picked by his campaign staff, President Biden refused to acknowledge the most basic of facts – including that he was behind in the polls, especially in the swing states – claiming that “All the pollsters I talk to tell me it’s a toss-up.”

Geez, Joe, haven’t you ever heard of salesmen telling you what you want to hear to get you to buy their product or service? Or maybe, just maybe, they are telling you the truth about you losing ground in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, and a host of other states, but you either can’t – or won’t – comprehend what they are saying.

President Biden also dismissed polls showing that his approval rating stands at just 36%, a historically low number and in fact, the lowest level recorded since such polls were first taken under Harry Truman. “That’s not what our polls are showing,” Mr. Biden claimed, to which Stephanopoulos replied, “I’ve never heard of a candidate with a 36% approval rating winning.” That reply, like much of the rest of the interview, went right over the president’s head.

When Stephanopoulos asked President Biden about reports of unrest within the Democratic Party amid calls for him to step aside, our illustrious Head of State kept paddling down the same river of denial, refuting the allegation and falsely asserting that “They all said I should stay in the race… none of the people said I should leave.”

That’s absolute nonsense unless, of course, Joe is referring to Jill Biden, the country’s Enabler-in-Chief who thrives on attention and access to power; and his soon-to-be sentenced son Hunter, who is desperately in need of a presidential pardon.

Among Mr. Biden’s other questionable claims was that he is still “the most qualified person to be president and win this race,” and that his dismal debate performance was simply the result of jet lag and a bad cold. Forget the inconvenient truth that Sleepy Joe returned from his trip to Europe 12 days before the debate… and that most people in authority can still function with a head cold.

Perhaps the biggest whopper that President Biden told (and with a straight face, no less) was that he didn’t need a cognitive test to prove his mental fitness for office. “No one said I had to,” said the 46th President of the United States, sounding more like a preschooler who needed his mother’s permission to go outside and play. And when asked if he is more frail today than when he first took office, Biden firmly answered “No.”

I guess we are not supposed to trust our own lying eyes as we watch the leader of the Free World stumble up and down stairs, fall off bikes, trip on stage, lose his sense of direction, and walk like the Tin Man before he was given oil.

Obviously, I could go on and on with instances of President Biden’s refusal to acknowledge the obvious: that he is in serious and severe mental and physical decline. But instead of trying to find new ways to say the same thing, I will simply let Mr. Biden’s own words speak for themselves.

When asked by Stephanopoulos if he realized how badly the debate was going for him, the man with America’s nuclear code said the following…

“Yeah, look. The whole way I prepared, nobody's fault, mine. Nobody's fault but mine. I, uh-- I prepared what I usually would do sittin' down as I did come back with foreign leaders or National Security Council for explicit detail. And I realized--bout partway through that, you know, all-- I get quoted the New York Times had me down, at ten points before the debate, nine now, or whatever the hell it is. The fact of the matter is, what I looked at is that he also lied 28 times. I couldn't-- I mean, the way the debate ran, not-- my fault, no one else's fault, no one else's fault.”

Reassuring, huh?

Now you know why the New York Times, a bastion of liberalism, wrote the following…

"People who've spent time with President Biden over the last few months or so said the lapses appear to have grown more frequent, more pronounced, and after Thursday debate, more worrisome. By many accounts, as evidenced by video footage, observation, and interviews, Mr. Biden is not the same today as he was even when he took office three-and-a-half years ago."

And yet, President Biden went on to blame his poor debate performance on former President Trump “shouting” (even though his mic was turned off). “I let it distract me. I-- I'm not blaming it on that, but I realized that I just wasn't in control.”

So, let me get this right. The Commander-in-Chief of America’s Armed Forces lost total control because someone near him supposedly shouted.

C’mon man… and that’s not hyperbole!

(Looking back at President Biden’s sit-down with Stephanopoulos on August 19, 2021, following his disastrous and deadly decision to leave Afghanistan so haphazardly is no more reassuring than the one he gave last week.
