Let’s play a little multiple choice guessing game…

The answers are Winston Churchill, Neville Chamberlain, Bibi Netanyahu, and Joe Biden. Ready, set, go!

Who said the following…?

“I would say to the House, as I said to those who have joined this Government, I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat. We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many long months of toil and struggle. You ask what is our policy? I will say, it is to wage war with all our might, with all the strength that God can give us, to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark, lamentable catalogue of human crime. You ask what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terror. Victory however long and hard the road may be. For without victory there is no survival.”

“We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air. We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing-grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills. We shall never surrender!”

“What General Weygand called the Battle of France is over. I expect that the battle of Britain is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization. Upon it depends our own British life, and the long continuity of our institutions and our Empire. The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us. Hitler knows that he will have to break us in this island or lose the war. If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be free and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science. Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, ‘This was their Finest Hour.’”

Now, who said this…?

“Heaven knows I don't want to get back to alliances but if Germany continues to behave as she has done lately she may drive us to it.”

And this… ?

“My good friends, this is the second time there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honor. I believe it is peace for our time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Now I recommend you go home, and sleep quietly in your beds.”

If you guessed that Winston Churchill delivered the first three speeches and Neville Chamberlain the last two, you would be correct. Churchill saw Adolf Hitler for the demonic demagogue that he was and rallied Great Britain to defeat him, while Chamberlain sought to placate and negotiate with the genocidal tyrant.

There is a reason why Sir Winston was named the greatest statesman of the 20th century and Neville Chamberlain’s name is now synonymous with cluelessness and cowardice.

OK, here’s a few more quotes… and there are just two remaining answers. Good luck!

Who said this…?

“Civilians have been killed in Gaza as a consequence of those bombs and other ways in which they go after population centers. I made it clear that if they go into Rafah – they haven’t gone in Rafah yet – if they go into Rafah, I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities – that deal with that problem.”

“We’re not walking away from Israel’s security. We’re walking away from Israel’s ability to wage war in those areas. We’re going to continue to make sure Israel is secure in terms of Iron Dome and their ability to respond to attacks that came out of the Middle East recently. But it’s, it’s just wrong. We’re not going to – we’re not going to supply the weapons and artillery shells.”

“They haven’t gone into the population centers. What they did is right on the border. And it’s causing problems with, right now, in terms of – with Egypt, which I’ve worked very hard to make sure we have a relationship and help. I’ve made it clear to him and the war cabinet: They’re not going to get our support, if in fact they go on these population centers.”

And then, who responded by saying this…?

“If Israel has to stand alone, we will stand alone. If we need to, we will fight with our fingernails. But we have much more than our fingernails.”

The spineless and gutless world leader who made the first series of comments was America’s very own Sleepy Joe Biden, a man whom former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates described as being “wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.” As you may have surmised, the brave world leader who publicly declared his unshakable resolve and that of his nation was Bibi Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel.

Two statesmen – Churchill and Netanyahu – and two cowardly career politicians: Chamberlain and Biden. The contrast couldn’t be clearer.

Speaking for myself, I admire and respect the historical giants named Churchill and Netanyahu. Meanwhile, Chamberlain and Biden are deserving of both my pity and my disgust.
