Answer the Question, Kamala!
Monday, October 28, 2024
Dodgeball is an individual sport, with people in the middle of a circle trying to evade balls thrown at them by people on its outer rim. However, if dodgeball were a team sport, I know who my first-round draft pick would be… Kamala Harris.
Ms. Harris, who after a career of “failing forward” now finds herself a heartbeat away from the presidency, has made an art of dodging reporters’ questions. For instance, in an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper last week, the liberal host asked her a surprisingly tough question: “Is a border wall stupid?”
To his credit, Cooper prefaced his question by pointing out that Harris had criticized the border wall more than 50 times, calling it “stupid, useless, and a Medieval vanity project.”
It was a direct question that required a direct answer, but Cooper didn’t get one. Instead, he got a giggling Harris completely ignoring his question by saying “Well, let’s talk about Donald Trump and that border wall.” She then offered him a word salad full of political talking points about “a bipartisan bill” and “working across the aisle” to fix “a broken immigration system.”
You know, the same broken immigration system that she was given full authority to repair by President Biden more than three years ago. However, Harris chose to ignore the problem and turn open the immigration spigots instead, allowing more than 10 million illegal aliens to pour across our southern border – including thousands of convicted murderers, drug dealers, and pedophiles, not to mention hundreds of suspected terrorists.
Since Harris callously dodged Cooper’s question, I am going to give her a chance to redeem herself. In no particular order, please respond to the following queries, Madame Vice President…
1. After years of progress, food insecurity in the United States has noticeably increased, partly due to the Covid-19 pandemic and record inflation. It has hit families with children especially hard, with the USDA reporting that almost 18 percent of households with children were food insecure, up from 17.3 percent in 2022 and 12.5 percent in 2021.

2. According to the National Association of Realtors, buying an average home is now out of reach for the majority of Americans, as the annual household income needed to afford a median-priced home has increased by 60% since January 2022. At that time, a minimum household income of $74,000 was required to buy a mid-range home, roughly in line with the national median income. Since then, a massive 40% affordability gap has opened up, with a required income of $120,000 far outpacing the median income of $84,000.

3. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, homicide and suicide are increasingly common causes of death for young Americans. In fact, homicide is now the third leading cause of death for children ages 5-9, the fourth leading cause for children 10-14, the second for young people 15-24, and the third for people 25-34. Meanwhile, suicide is the second leading cause of death for children 10-14 and adults 25-34, and the third leading cause for young people 15-24.

While Kamala Harris is bobbing and weaving trying her best to offer excuses and non-answers – after all, isn’t everything Donald Trump’s fault? – I have one question to ask the American people. It is the same question that Ronald Reagan famously asked voters in 1980 and that President Trump is asking now…
ARE YOU BETTER OFF TODAY THAN YOU WERE FOUR YEARS AGO?
