An Open Letter to God-fearing Democrats
Wednesday, January 30, 2019
In the current political climate, where government gridlock is both a noun and an epithet, and where claims of intransigence and obstructionism are lobbed in the halls of Congress like so many hand grenades, I want to reach across the aisle to my Democrat friends.
Yes, I have a few.
More specifically, I want to reach out in a bipartisan manner to those Democrats who have both a moral compass and a sense of decency. To those Democrats whose conscience has not yet been seared by years of party indoctrination, special interest money, and mandatory allegiance to an increasingly radical agenda.
Yes, there are a few.
In 1962, Ronald Reagan famously uttered the following words, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party; the Democratic Party left me.” For those too young to remember, Reagan was once an outspoken disciple of Franklin Roosevelt and an ardent supporter of the New Deal.
Admittedly, the “Gipper” changed party affiliations mainly for economic reasons. In fact, he wrote about John F. Kennedy in 1960 that, “Under the tousled boyish haircut, is still old Karl Marx.”
But the party of FDR and JFK is not the Democrat Party of today. Truth be told, I doubt whether either man would recognize it.
Roosevelt, for all his many flaws, led our nation in a prolonged – and heartfelt – prayer on D-Day. And Kennedy was unabashed about his Catholic faith, which then and now greatly values the sanctity of human life.
Last week, the party of Cleveland, Roosevelt, Truman and Kennedy climbed out on a moral limb and then sawed it off, expecting to somehow levitate in the air. Instead, led by Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the New York state legislature, it came crashing down, their pro-infanticide law receiving almost universal condemnation.
As if legalizing third-term abortions wasn’t enough, State Representative Kathy Trans of Virginia decided to double-down on Gov. Cuomo’s depravity. This week, she introduced a bill that would make it legal to abort a baby after his or her mother had started dilating.
No, that’s not a typo. Under questioning, Rep. Trans admitted that her bill would allow a baby to be murdered even after the birth process had already begun.
Dare I say that somewhere, in the deepest darkest parts of hell, the devilish trifecta of Goebbels, Goring and Himmler are jealous, wishing that they had had the audacity to suggest such an atrocity.
Thankfully, Trans’ bill was defeated, but not before almost half of the Democrat caucus came out in favor of it.
Did you hear what I just said, my Democrat friends? Your party is now the party, not only of abortion and open sexual deviance, but also of infanticide. And emboldened by the recent developments in New York, Democrats in other states are now pushing for euthanasia to be legalized.
Today, assisted-suicide for those who feel that their lives are no longer worth living. Tomorrow, euthanasia for those whom the government decides are no longer beneficial to society. Goodbye, Democrat Party, and hello, Third Reich.
If we are willing to sacrifice our precious children on the twin altars of selfishness and convenience, how long will it be before we erect a third altar on which to sacrifice our elderly parents… or those with mental and physical handicaps?
My dear Democrat friends, I trust that my words – and the political developments of the past several weeks – have struck a chord within your hearts and within your souls. The truth of the matter is that your party has left you and every other God-fearing American in the dust.
We, the party of abolition and civil rights, offers you shelter and a warm embrace.
Welcome home.
